Join us for our 3rd annual tour of the Mazinaw Lake. We are changing things up a little again this summer. Meet and greet begins Friday evening at 7 pm at the Mazinaw Lakeside Resort. Get settled into your accommodations and join us by the camp fire for a marshmallow social. We’ll call it a fairly early night and rest up for Saturday’s events.
Saturday morning begins with a hot breakfast outdoors at 8am. At this point, we will set up our boat mates and by 9am begin carpooling to the launch site, approx. 2km north of our camp. This is a wet launch so please remember to wear the proper foot wear. We’ll head south down the lake along the west side, pass through the narrows at Bon Echo Park and to the end (13km). Then pull a u-turn and head back Bon Echo Park for a picnic lunch on the beach. After lunch, we all have 2 hours to wander, swim, climb the Bon Echo Rock trail, take the history boat tour or enjoy the Art Exhibit hosted by the park. When you are ready, we’ll begin carpooling back to the camp, leaving our shells and gear on the beach.
Back at camp, we have time to rest, relax and get ready for another fabulous meal catered by the Mazinaw Lakeside Resort. When sunset approaches, we will carpool back to the boats, deck the shells and ourselves in glow sticks and accompanied by a safety boat, row back to the North end in the moon light. There will be a surprise waiting at the end for us!!
Boats stay rigged and safe on shore Saturday night. Sunday morning we rise and shine, catered breakfast at 8am, launch by 9am. We’ll head up the East side of the lake to the second bay, Campbell’s Bay. This 2km stretch of water is very shallow with a thick clay bottom.
By noon on Sunday, we’ll be back to the launch site, derigging and loading the trailer. Afterwards, we’ll return to the cottages for our final Bon Voyage catered lunch.
What to bring:
appropriate rowing clothes, footwear you can get wet, bathing suit and towel, reusable water bottle, hat, sunscreen and bug spray, tent if you choose that type of site and BYOB
Included in the fee:
all meals, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks for the boats, water all weekend, accommodations, seat fees, tailoring fuel, photo montage disc mailed to you and all the fun you can fit into one weekend.
The following accommodation types are available. First come, first serve.
Cottage #1: sleeps 3/5
One bedroom with 2 double beds, one pull-out couch, kitchenette, full washroom w/ shower and all the bedding/towels.
Cottage #2: sleeps 4/5 people
One bedroom with double bed, one bedroom with bunk beds, futon in the living room, kitchenette, washroom w/ shower, all bedding and towels.
Yurt #1: sleeps 2 people
2 single beds, bedding and towels – near washroom w/ showers
Yurt #2: sleeps 2 people
One double bed, near washrooms w/shower
Tent sites and available upon request. Please bring your own RV/tent.
