This is a 105-km row on the southern part of the Rideau Canal starting in Kingston and ending in Smiths Falls. There are 18 locks in all. Boats used are coxed touring quads.
We check into the resort on Friday, June 23 and row for the next 4 days. We will see forests, boathouses, and birds such as loons, herons, and ospreys. We will stop at certain locks, many virtually unchanged since the canal opened in 1832, to look at their gray stone buildings and their associated history.
We arrive in Smiths Falls on June 27.
